Focus on Life Week 33 - In Season

I live in the middle of corn country and we have corn coming out of our ears, literally.
Sorry for the pun, lol.
Corn earns, get it??  Ears of corn?  :)

A drive down main street in my small town reveals no less than 3 sweet corn stands.  Most are unmanned, poeple go by the honor system here.  This morning there is a small farmers market and there will be a dozen or more vendors there with lovely produce.

We've enjoyed a nice cool August but the heat and humidity return this week.  The corn loves this kind of weather, I HATE it.  I'm looking forward to autumn, where I can wear toasty sweaters and scarves and leather boots once again.  And take my yearly trek out to the pumpkin patch.

Have a good week wherever you are!

  3. Donna, this is the BEST subject for in season. I really miss the taste of farm-stand corn. It ruins you for store-bought forever. I also have a great recipe for turkey chowder that uses corn. It is my post-Thanksgiving meal every year.

  4. Oh those ears of corn bring back childhood memories of my little town in Central Illinois - Mayberry, as I call it. Love your pics and I'm excited to wear my boots and sweaters again, too - but that won't be happening here until Mid to late November!!
