Focus On Life Week 17~Color/ColourSaturday

Late to the party...I'm sorry.  Somehow, this just escaped me this week.  I am a very busy person and I had many orders I was working on, which took precedence.

Color...hmm, I work in color every day of my life.  But I don't really want to show you some of my beads.  Instead, since I wasn't part of this group when the flower week was going on I show one of my favorite photograph's of a tiger lily that I changed up in photoshop.

This was right after I moved here from Alaska and I had hired the neighbor kid to mow my lawn, I didn't own a lawnmower at the time (I do now).

One day as he was mowing the lawn he knocked off the most perfect bloom and I found it laying on the newly cut grass.  I know he didn't do it on purpose but I was still kind of miffed about it.  I do love my flowers.  I brought it inside and set it in my photo booth, not really planning on taking a picture of it.  But, there ya go, I took a look at it sitting there and thought, why not?

I'd love if you clicked the photo to see a better view of it.  Thanks and have a great week!

Focus On Life Week 16~Take a Walk

I walk almost every day.  Rain, sleet or snow, if it's not too bad, I'm out the door.  I do it for me but mostly I do it for my 2 dogs.  In the autumn I hike in remote area's about 40 minutes from here.  When I'm in Alaska I hike in even more remote area's.  It's part of who I am.

And when we are done hiking in Alaska we fly back to where we started, it's the only way to get back.  Or by water taxi, but we chose to fly this time.

The pilot was pretty cute too!

Leaving Seldovia, Alaska

Arriving Homer, Alaska

I hope you enjoy how I like to walk/hike when I'm in Alaska.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by.

Focus on Life - Week 15

Aged Beauty

My first photo for this week is of my beloved dog, Nikishkka's Frosty Feet.  She is long gone now, but not forgotten.  In 2001 when I moved to Alaska from Wisconsin she went with me.  She is buried there, underneath some Black Spruce tree's.  If you look off to the distance on a clear day you can see Denali (Mt. McKinley).  She was 15.  I miss her every day.

My next photo is from last June.  A friend and I  flew up to Alaska for 2 weeks.  We did a remote 12 mile hike across Kachemak Bay to Greywingk Glacier.  Aged Beauty?  Can't get much older than a glacier...lovely blogger won't let me enlarge the photo so please click it.

We stopped and had a lite snack on the shores of Greywingk and while we were sitting there I spotted this cool, cool rock.  If you look with an open mind you will see it has a Salmon on it!  I was so excited to find it.  Salmon, as they get old and are spawning, their nose hooks, and the grey spots are where the eyes would be.  I can see it very plainly but then I've seen many different ways artists depict Salmon and this just jumped right out at me.  I packed it out in my backpack and brought it home with me.  I weighed it, it was 9 pounds and I didn't really need all that extra weight in my pack but there was no way I was going to leave it.  I love this rock, it now rests on my fireplace mantle.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week.
