Focus On Life: Week 48 Giving Thanks

Thankful for everyone in my life; past, present & future.
Thankful to be here alive today.
So many things to be thankful for but I have to admit
I wish I had some family around to enjoy holiday's with
cuz
spending them alone SUCKS.
I spend almost every day of my life alone.  Not just holiday's.

I took this photo Thanksgiving morning 2013.

  1. Lovely picture... looks like Vincent van Gogh's starry night in black and white! I'm getting used to spending holidays virtually alone... which makes carrying on intelligent conversations difficult sometimes!

  2. Just love how the leaves decorate the sides of the road. Even though I have a large family, we spend few holidays together but find time other points in the year to be together. So we have formed "adopted" family with other friends in similar circumstances.

  3. Even that is difficult, I only know 2 people in this town and they have their own things to do. They aren't any groups or things to join here, just today I stopped in a quilt shop and inquired about sewing groups, the woman looked at me like I lost my marbles....I can't wait to leave this place.

  4. So sorry that you have to be alone on holidays, but I hope that your contacts online help a little. I was on Facebook all day, with just my husband and daughter at home, and daughter working. Lovely but lonely picture.

  5. A stunning, thought-provoking piece, Donna - the holidays can be such a hard and lonely time....
My thoughts are with you, and whenever you need human contact, however tenuous, stop my new blog home - the virtual kettle's always on...

  8. I am thankful for your amazing photography skills - your photos are always spectacular! I am sorry you're spending most all of your time alone, especially during the holidays as they can be even more lonely than normal days, but know we think of you and care about you. Hope you can get to a place where you will have fun things to do with fun and creative people like yourself soon. Our friends who live in Alaska (Wasilla area) keep telling us we need to visit - I'm always like - "Are you crazy,...it's cold there!!" When they came here to visit one March a few years back, Mamie swam in our 60 degree swimming pool we had at the time,...and she thought it was fine!! Normal people would have frozen to death!! LOL!!

  9. I'm sorry you are alone in a town where no one seems to warn up to you. But like a few of us said we are here. Hugs to you/

  10. What a sad town that is - and a sad quilt shop! You know I wish for you a move to a place you can call home. I am fortunate not to have to spend the holiday alone, but you know even surrounded by others one can feel very alone. I felt a bit of that this year. Hugs to you and I hope you know how much color your art brings to the world.

  11. I think this time of year can be very difficult, alone or not...but alone is definitely worse. As Janet said, I wish for you a move to a place that feels more like home than the current one does...alone or not. Make it happen!

  12. I'm sorry that you are alone during the time of year or for every day for that matter. I pray that connections are taylor made for you and it looks like you are not alone out here in blog world. I know it's not the same as human contact but you still have some sort of community!
